I need an advice on my Beagle Puppy behavior, she is 4 months old and she got home when she was one and a half
Posted on Jan 07, 2009 under puppy behavior |She has terrible problems of behavior, I try to pet her and she bites, she bites everything, I can’t make her to listen to me when I give her an order, she steels all my clothing and tear it apart, when I wear skirts she jumps to bite it and pull it so… good bye skirt, one more to join the rest of destroyed thing on my house. I am not sure what I am doing wrong, I try to spend as much as I have with her, but I think is not working, she is about 6 hours alone every day, three at the morning and three on the afternoon, I am thinking about giving her away, but I love her so much that I don’t want to, but I feel that she is never going to change her way and it is a problem for me. I really need and advice!!!!! PLEASE!!!!
Dogs form their personalities at 2 and 3 months of age. This is when they need to be trained and socialized with people regularly. This is when they form their first habits, the ones that will stay will them all their lives. Dogs don't learn the right habits by themselves so TAKE HER TO TRAINING CLASSES WHERE YOU CAN BOTH LEARN

Beagles are well known for their mischevious behavior. They grow bored very easily. Your absolute best bet is obedience training, and fast. Do a google search for dog obedience in your city/state. You'd be amazed how much this just might help.

I have two and they are hard headed little things, but the most loving creatures ever. Be patient with her. If she is 4 months, she is still a pup. Have plenty of toys, which will be destroyed, for her. Obedience classes would help out greatly or if money is tight, check out your local library or recreational center. Good Luck.. it will all work out.

You got her too young. She tears up your skirts because they are not hung up out of her way. She is teething, she needs to chew on things.
She needs mental stimulation and physical exercise. Take her to a puppy training class ASAP!
That will help more than anything.

I have a beagle that is five years old we got her when she was about five months old. when we first got her she nibbled on us a lot because she was teething which is probably whats going on with your puppy. It is fine for now because she is in pain and it helps but when she stops teething you have to make sure she knows that she can't bite anymore. It took our beagle a while to stop biting because each time we would 'spank' her for biting she would fight back but after awhile she learned and now even if you step on her accidentally she won't bite she starts to but then realizes what she is doing and starts licking you. it will take time but she will learn when we first got ours she was alone for eight hours everyday so I don't think being away for six hours is the problem.

I have a beagle too. Try to give her extra raw-hides to chew on. Then when you go and leave her put her in a crate or a pen. When ever she does something bad squirt her with lemon juice or water and say NO! Or you can pat her on the head. To train her give her dog biscuits when she does something good. One other option is to take her to obedience school.

Hehehe. It sounds likes some of the evil beagles we have work sometimes. Beagles are very stubborn and they grow bored easily.
When she goes to bite you, or anything else, grab around her muzzle(mouth and nose area)squeeze it tightly, and say "NO" in a very loud, stern voice. She's probably going to try biting again after that, but just repeat the actions I just told you.
My sister's rat terrier was a BIG biter for months, but we tried this for a few weeks and the biting stopped almost completely.
If that doesn't work in about a month, try obedience training!

I have a beagle mix that is 3 mo's old and yrs ago I also had one.The biggest problem at that age is they are teething. She needs to have a crate to be put into when you aren't home. Then she needs some good nylon chew toys.Raw hide isn't that good. She'll chew pieces and swallow them whole.Everytime she chews on the wrong thing you put a chew toy in her mouth instead. and everytime she uses her teeth on you,you say"No Mouth" and slide your finger as far down her throat as you can. It's unpleasant and will have her trying to get her mouth as far away from you as she can get it.What has happened, is because she hasn't learned the rules of your house, she's decided she's boss and making the rules.Take her to the first available Dog Training class, and learn how to make your pup follow the rules. You won't regret this.E-mail me if you would like some more insight.Or go to Yahoo groups and join rescuedbeagles.Lots of people there that are really nice and helpful
