Puppy Tips And So Much More!

weird puppy behavior?

so,we got a new puppy hes 9 weeks old.hes been good lately but just today he just acted so weird, hes been biting everything he sees and hes been crying just all a sudden hes been distant to us for today.can anyone help us on what you think is wrong with him?what can we do to make him feel better if theres really something wrong.

At 9 weeks old he's NOT teething. Puppy biting is common. That's how they explore their world..through their mouth. He's most likely going through a transition period of being away from his mother and littermates. I highly suggest you join the yahoo group SPT. It's a puppy group with a lot of answers, moderated by a positive trainer with lots of experience. If he's biting people, there's info on bite inhibition there as well as tons of other things.

It is completely normal for them to bite everything they see, so get use to it. He may be crying because his teeth are coming in if he doesnt have them already and it might be irritating for him. Try getting him some nice chew toys.

The one thing I can say are that he is teething, so buy him puppy related toys. The crying and distance I do not know what to say about it. Probably he is missing his mom. Cuddle, play, and nuture him.

He may be teething. The chewing may be because his mouth hurts, and just like children, teething makes them grumpy!

Chances are, your puppy is teething, and some of his teeth are starting to want to come out. He is going to want to bite everything to help him alleviate the itchiness and discomfort of his teeth. A good thing to give him is an ice cube. Puppies generally love ice cubes and will play with them well. Another GREAT toy for a teething puppy is a Puppy Kong. You can fill it up with chicken broth and freeze it, and then give it to him as a treat that will also allow him to chew and pacify those gums. If he is crying, he may be in some pain. Check the teeth and make sure there aren't any trying to come out. It won't hurt him if you help wiggle a loose one out.

As well, watch to make sure he is still using the bathroom, as some puppies may experience pain while eating, thus making their food intake less. You can also check his little body for any problems by applying soft pressure to his tummy, legs, back, hips, etc, and if he cries when any of those areas are touched, it may be something internal that may need veterinary attention. Good luck!

Likely its all because of the teething, it may itch or hurt or whatnot, dont let him bite people when he do as a first step try replacing hands with an apropriate play toy, it migth be enough

If not you'll have to move on to teaching him its wrong to bite, but since he is just starting and is confused constantly exchanging it for a toy may be sufficient to get him to take the hint.

If he dont perk up in a couple days since you seem to have had him for a while, or if he gets worse take him to a vet just to be 100% sure

its always better safe then sorry, but likely yes its just teething thats changing his behaviour so just give him toys and monitor him for the next few days *s*

this is very normal for a puppy to go threw its just his way of adapting to a new home, because he has been there for a bit he has relized its his new home. it could also be home sick most pups are like that depending on the breed,he probable misses other dogs. nothing to worry abut
