Puppy Tips And So Much More!

She barks to go outside, which is good for us, but she also barks for other thinkgs, which is too much. We've disciplined her and it's helped some, but not all the way. She's personality plus and so smart, which I know goes with the breed. Any training tips would be appreciated. Thanks!

My aunt breeds Aussie's, She has 7 of her own. Its all about how much you play with them. And yes when the door bell rings they will all bark. They are breed to be loud. They are sheep dogs. So what we have done is given them a command to talk. (for when the time is right) We use the work "Speak" Then let them bark. we also say "what?" to cue them to do it louder. They like this game. But its common for them to bark a lot.

Aussies are very active and need lots of excersise. they thrive on positive reinforcement and don't do well with harsh discipline, however they need a firm owner. its important to socai;ize them as they can develop issues with other animals. they also like to have "jobs" as they were bred for herding they get bored easily which is might be why shes barking so much. i would put her in obedience class. it helps with training, socailization and creates a strong bond between the two of you.

Well one thing you can do to stop it's barking (Such as when someone rings the doorbell) just say "SHHHHH!" when she continues to bark. You can let her bark like once or twice when someone is at the door. After a while he may only bark once when someone is at the door, or she may even just growl when someone is at the door.
